What is GOOD music?

so, i was told yesterday that I, MEG LIZ, had BAD taste in music!!!! WHAT?? Because i didnt know what “good” music was! I was silent, and if you know me well enough, you know that when im SILENT…that means dont say another word to me or i will break yo face! LOL jk jk, but seriously, if i just look at you with a blank stare and say absolutely nothing, that means im super super ultra HELLA MAD!

I pride myself on always having the exclusives, all the good stuff, FIRST. I was known in college for my “mixtapes” LOL thats so stupid, but i mean people asked for them, so that means people were diggin what i was listening to. I listen to ALL kinds of music, Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Techno, Dance, Pop, Rock, Alternative, Indie…love it ALL! Okay, so i will admit i HATE neo-soul, i dont like Common, India Arie, John Legend…all that soul garbage.

So with that said, i think its safe to say i enjoy most music, and I give pretty much everything a chance. I appreciate anything that makes me happy, makes me wanna dance, gets me hype or energized. People listen to what they like, its a personal preference. I think it is absurd for people to make such a statement that categorizes what is “good” music, honestly, how self-righteous is that! Music is art, and I am no stranger to the world of art and entertainment. I am an artist myself, I hold a bachelors of fine arts from the University of North Carolina, and of course, im a performer. For a work of art to be considered “good” it either causes a viewer to think or to feel. Yes, great art can be a matter of great execution of skill, or great concept. But the only true indication of greatness is how the piece makes you feel. Once again - personal preference. Allot of people find it hard to consider Jackson Pollock’s art of great merit. Then again, there are allot of people who DO, and they spend lots of money purchasing his work. They hang a Pollock painting in their living room, it makes them feel…thats Fabulous, good for them! Now does that mean just because that person appreciates Pollock as a “great” artist that that person who does not, should go purchase his work, hang it in their home JUST because someone said it was GREAT?…NO!!!!! Thats ridiculous, let me listen to what i wanna listen to, and leave me alone! Because com’on people i clearly dont care what anything thinks :)
